Rosemary Mahoney Polk Morrow, age 88, passed away November 9, 2012 in Springfield, MO. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on April 25, 1924 to Dr. Paul Leo Mahoney and Gladys Brumbelow Mahoney. Rosemary attended Stratford Junior College in Danville, Virginia and graduated from St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was united in marriage to Dr. John W. Polk of Helena, Arkansas on September 18, 1948 in Little Rock. Following Dr. Polk's death, Rosemary received a bachelor's degree of science in education from Southwest Missouri State University in 1974 and her master's degree in 1979. She taught at St. Agnes Grade School until her retirement and marriage to William T. Morrow of Center Ridge, Arkansas, who also precedes her.
Rosemary is survived by her sons John W. Polk Jr. and Michael William Polk, Springfield, MO and her daughter Diane (John) Ramsay, Westfield, MA as well as her son-in-law Richard Wallace, Southborough, MA, and sister-in-law Ann Mahoney, Harrison, AR. She leaves seven grandchildren: Blake (Jeff) Poggi, Kate (John) Nicolaou, Joshua Wahba, Elizabeth Polk, Michael Ramsay, Jamie Wallace, and Thomas Ramsay; five great-grandchildren: Jason, Matthew, Emma, Megan, and Miriella; three nieces: Lynn, Leigh, and Patti; two nephews: Paul Jr. and Michael as well as many great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Dr. Paul L. Mahoney, and her daughter Paula Polk Wallace.
Rosemary lived a life full of compassion and grace for everyone she met. She was a remarkable woman who touched many lives. She was loved by many and will be missed immensely.
A memorial service will be held at The Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett, Springfield, MO on November 14, 2012 at 11:00 am.
