Sanford K. Brown

Retried Army SFC Sanford (Bob) K. Brown, age 90, passed away at his home in Lebanon, Missouri on Friday morning, May 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He was one of 4 children. He was born on Sunday, March 9, 1924 to George and Cora Brown in Sioux City, Nebraska. He joined the US Army on February 24, 1943. He was stationed many places such as Germany, Philippines, New Guinea, Hawaii and several other locations. He proudly served under General Douglas MacArthur during the Philippine Campaign. Upon retiring from the Army, he settled with his wife on a 180-acre farm in Grovespring, Missouri to raise their family.

He is survived by his faithful wife of 62 years, Helen. Also by his daughter, Mary Fishburn and her husband, Lloyd of Republic, MO; daughter, Dr. Loretta Fuge and her husband, Marion of Mansfield, MO, daughter; Nancy Burge and her husband, Mike of Lebanon, MO, and his son, Rex Brown and his wife, Christine of Mountain Grove, MO. Also by his 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Fort Leonard Wood Veterans Cemetery with Full Military Honors. The family wishes in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans through Greenlawn Funeral Home in Springfield, MO.
