Sherman A. Miller
Sherman Alfred Miller, 87, Springfield, passed away at 11:39 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2013 in his home.
He was born on December 19, 1925, in Rogersville, Missouri, the son of the late U. Lon and Ettie (Klepper) Miller. He was united in marriage to on November 9, 1946 to Ruth N. Kinser, she preceded him in death in 1991. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a special friend, Nona Ferguson. Sherman was a U.S. Army
veteran serving during the Korean War
and was employed with Lily-Tulip for 33 years. He was an avid golfer with several hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, playing pool, spending time at the Southside Senior Center with his many friends and, in his younger days was a great softball player. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Sue Neff and husband Larry, Neosho; a son, Al Miller and partner Roger Malarkey, Springfield; a sister, Gertrude Reed, Macclenny, FL; two grandsons, Scott King and wife Charlotte, Mount Pleasant, SC; and Weston Miller and wife Aida, Battlefield; a granddaughter, Samantha Thieme and husband Hunter, Springfield; four great-grandchildren, William, Cecilia, Maxium and Willow; a special friend, Jean Sanders, Springfield; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Smith Cemetery, Rogersville, under the care of J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville.
