Terence W Moore
Terence William Moore was born April 10, 1936, in Willow Springs to William J. and Maryruth (Sullenger) Moore. He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Terry grew up and spent his entire life in Springfield. He graduated from Springfield High School (Central) in 1954. He attended SMSU from 1954 to 1957. On September 22, 1957, he married Virginia Mathews. They had two daughters, Teresa and Patricia. He was a member of National Avenue Christian Church for over 45 years.
Terry spent over 40 years in broadcasting with the same organization. He started at KTTS-AM-FM-TV in 1956 as a TV news reporter/anchor. He then moved to radio as an announcer and was also program director for a number of years. When the radio station sold and KTTS-TV became KOLR in 1972, he moved with the organization, spending the remaining 28 years of his career as a news reporter
and anchor for KOLR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and sister Minnie Sue, age 2.
Terry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia, daughter Teresa Norris and husband Sid, daughter Patricia Snider and husband Shawn, grandchildren Emily Powell, Elisabeth Homer and husband John, Andrew Norris, Sam Snider, and Joseph Snider, great-grandchildren Elijah, Ethan, and Madelyn Powell, all of Springfield, brother-in-law James Mathews, Long Lane, sister-in-law Mary Belle Moore, Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Burial will be in Four Mile Cemetery, Long Lane, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Avenue Christian Church Property Fund.
