Joe Dean Allen, 77, of Humansville passed away Wednesday evening, May 22nd at his residence in Humansville with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe was the oldest of 6 children born to Ralph and Nona Allen in Fair Grove, Missouri.

He graduated from Fair Grove High School Class of 1953. On October 1, 1954 he married Judy Robberson and they are parents of three children.

In 1955, he began working for City Utilities of Springfield where he worked for 39 years retiring in 1994 as a supervisor in the Gas and Meter Department.

He moved to Humansville in 2003 where he was known as "the lawn mower man" because of his ability to repair and rebuild lawn mowers. Joe enjoyed working with his hands as a woodworker and mechanic, fishing, and traveling. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Judy of the home; daughter Kathy Van Winkle and her husband Clyde of Springfield; sons Randy Dean Allen and his wife Shirley of Springfield and Michael W. Allen and his wife Marilou of Meridian, Mississippi; brothers John Allen and his wife Shirley of Fair Grove, Bill Allen and his wife Donna of Springfield, Mark Allen of Strafford; sisters Bonnie Lane and her husband John and Sue Norris and her husband James all of Springfield; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends who will greatly miss him.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, May 26th at the Humansville Senior Center.
