Joseph Raymond Behlmann Obituary
Joseph Raymond Behlmann

Joseph Raymond Behlmann, 87 of Springfield, was born October 21, 1923 in Florissant, Mo. to Joseph J. and Louise (Fuchs) Behlmann.

On July 25, 2011, we were saddened by the passing of Joe Behlmann. Joe lived such a full and beautiful life. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances Helen (Henke) Behlmann; and his seven children, Sr. Janie Behlmann CSJ, Carol (Gary) Pohlmann, Judy Steinmeyer, LouAnn (Rick) Randall, Joe Behlmann, Jr. (Sharon), Debbie Morrow and Greg Behlmann.

He was the loving grandfather to Shelley Stackpole, Tina Kittstein, Michael Pohlmann, Monica Winkler, Nikki Blanc, Jeff Steinmeyer, Nathan Steinmeyer, Jason Lackey, Megan Strum, Matt Behlmann, Josh Behlmann, Courtney Thompson, Joe Behlmann, III, Becky Riley and Ricky Behlmann; and beloved great-grandfather of 19 and dear Brother and Uncle.

Having served in World War II as a pilot he achieved the rank of 2nd Lt. and was honorably discharged in 1945.

Joe and Frances started their family and proceeded to follow their dreams. Joe's love of nature, family and fishing took him on numerous vacations where he saw as many of the State Parks and National Monuments as possible.

He then went on to serve in the United States Post Office for 31 years which eventually brought him to the Springfield area, where he achieved his lifelong dream of owning his beautiful farm where he gardened and raised cattle.

He left his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with memories of summers at the farm, hay rides, bonfires, sleigh riding, fishing and camping.

Joe gave to his family the beautiful gift of "time" enriching everyone's lives that he came in contact with. His life lessons were invalueable to those lucky enough to have received them.

He was deeply loved by all and will be greatly missed.
