Kathryn "Kay" L. Bruns, 77, of Kirbyville passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.
Kay was born on November 2, 1935 to Herbert and Cornelia Wilson in Chicago, Ill. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald J. Bruns, on November 26, 1955 in Chicago. In 1973, they moved from Chicago to Cedarcreek, Mo. where they owned and operated Bruns' Country Store for nearly 20 years.
Throughout her life, Kay was active in numerous civic organizations. Most recently, she was the current treasurer of the local Mended Hearts Chapter, volunteered at the Forsyth Library and served on the Taney County Republican Central Committee. Kay also worked part-time at the Branson Rec Plex where she enjoyed meeting and helping people.
Kay and her husband Don loved to dance and could be seen with the Branson Bootkickers and the Stepping Out Dance Group putting on dance demonstrations at the local fairs and festivals.
Survivors include her husband, Don Bruns; two children: daughter, Donna Bruns, son, John Bruns and wife Sandy; four grandchildren: Tracy Fairbairn and her husband Tom, Julie Winget and her husband Joe, Nathan Bruns and his wife Jayna and Jesse Morton; and two great-granddaughters she adored, Grace Fairbairn and Sophia Winget. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Dolores Foreman; nieces: Ellen, Susie, Sandy; and honorary grandchildren; Christon and Bo Jessie.
Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13 in The River Church in Forsyth, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, Branson.
