Lael Bjella
Springfield - Lael Bjella was married for 61 years and mother to six children. Love was her way.
Love was found at Gustavus Adolphus College where a joyful soprano met another choir member, Len Bjella on choir tour. Through their Christ-centered lives, their love was felt by many.
Love found its way into meals, lifelong church choir membership, Bible Study Fellowship leading, Bethel Bible teaching, prayer group, encouragement of her husband's Barbershop performances and children's classical music endeavors, Civic Newcomer hosting, and high school English and drama teaching. Perhaps Lael will be most remembered for cherishing others; listening and being sincerely interested in their lives was a habit. Perhaps Lael will be most remembered for her industriousness, whether it was for countless hand-made gifts—clothing, stitchery, costumes, toys, and personalized quilts, or for the daily tasks that were done with dedication. Perhaps Lael will be most remembered for her grateful heart, continually looking for a grace-filled lining even when faced with declining health. Perhaps Lael will be most remembered for her infectious, sometimes uncontrollable and always unforgettable giggle.
Love was the way in Lael's childhood in Kiron, Iowa. Her Godly parents Clarence and Irene Dahl cherished Lael as well as her sister Pat and brother Jim.
Lael's love will continue to guide her six children, Rick (Linda), Gail Randolph (Kerry), Steve (Michele), Becky Nodland (Jeff), Tracy Powers (Kit), David (Traci), her eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Lael was a woman of great trust and faith in her Lord Jesus. After almost 91 years here, she is now surrounded by His glory as our mom entered heaven on August 14.
On Sat., September 1 at 11:00 AM we will celebrate and honor her life at a memorial service at Messiah Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Messiah Lutheran Church music department, 925 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65807.
