Mike Timby

Robert Michael "Mike" Timby was born November 20, 1942, in Amarillo, TX, and passed away in Cox South Medical Center August 2, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Kenneth and Evelyn Mae Timby. Mike moved to Springfield at the age of 12 and graduated from Parkview High School. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserve with service from 1963 to 1969, and was decorated as an expert rifleman. Mike worked as a switchman for the BNSF Railway Company and retired after 35 years of service. He was also a member of Elks 409.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and leaves behind a wealth of friends who share wonderful memories and fun stories of time spent with Mike. He especially loved going to dinner with his buddies and their wives. He was a faithful friend to many and his kind heart will be missed by those who loved him. Mike cherished his little dog, Jake, who was a constant and devoted companion.

In celebration of Mike's life, a memorial visitation will be held in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Friday, August 10, 2012, from 6-7:30 PM with full Military Honors performed at 7:30 PM.
