Rev. Roger Valentine Wreath

Roger Valentine Wreath, born June 4, 1939 in the downstairs bedroom of the family farm home near Amiret, MN passed away May 2, 2012. He was the youngest child of John Logan and Lena Z. (Pryor) Wreath.

He attended the Amiret elementary school, Tracy MN Junior High and Bolivar High School Class of '57. Roger moved to Bolivar with his parents, and after graduating High School he completed the studies of ministry in the Methodist Church.

He began preaching in 1958 at Brighton, Dadeville and Pleasant Hope. He attended Southwest Baptist College, National College in Kansas City and St. Paul School of Theology also in Kansas City. While in Kansas City, at National College, he met and married Janet Rae House.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings; son, David Roger; and daughter, Leah Rae. He is survived by wife, Janet Rae; sons, Bryan Logan and wife Terri Ann and Scott Bernard; and granddaughter, Hanna Valentine.

Roger served many congregations as a Methodist pastor. Churches served included Butler Circuit (Bethel, Mt. Olivet, Passaic and Spruce). During his 41 years of ministry he also served Brighton, Pleasant Hope, Fairview (near Bolivar), Montrose -White Oak, Platte City, Albany, Tarkio-Westboro, Trenton (Wesley), Kimberling City, Grace (Springfield), Cameron Marshall (First) and Grace (St. Louis). In retirement his family moved to Springfield.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Campbell United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the service. Arrangements are under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Campbell United Methodist Church, 1747 E. Republic Rd., Springfield, MO 65804.
