Ruth E. Pitman Vestal Roth, 92, passed away after a long illness, Saturday, June 2, 2012. She was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 29, 1920, to Nathaniel Ellenwood and Edith (Dearn) Pitman. After the death of her father in 1927, Edith brought her two daughters, Ruth and Esther, to the U.S. to live in Pueblo, CO.
On October 9, 1939, she married Charles Owen Vestal in Vineland, CO. Her husband Owen died January 29, 1975. In 1981, she was united in marriage to Merlin Lloyd Roth who died in 1987.
She was a homemaker most of her life and long-time member of Grace Nazarene Church, Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Edith; sister, Esther Fagerstedt; husband, Owen, father of her six children; and husband, Merlin Roth.
She is survived by her six children and their families, Beverly and Dr. Glenn DeGraffenreid of Nixa, MO, Sharon (Carroll) Elliott of Larned, KS, Don and Martha Vestal of Gresham, SC, Dean Vestal of Cape Carteret, NC, Leo Vestal of Springfield, MO, and Susan and Terry Murphy of Denton, TX. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and the Merlin Roth Family.
She leaves a legacy of a strong Christian faith and a loving, serving heart. The Family would like to thank Christian Health Care and Rehab of Nixa and Regional Hospice for all the care and support.
Funeral services will be held in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 11 A.M. with visitation prior to the service at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
