Ruth Nadine Cantrell, age 86, of Miller, Missouri, went to meet her Lord and Savior on October 12, 2009 in St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born on October 15, 1922 to Jack Lamb and Jewell Lamb Roach in Dade County, Missouri. She married her high school sweetheart, Vincent Cantrell, on December 21, 1938, and they lived their entire married life of nearly 65 years in Miller. Ruth was baptized in the Miller United Methodist Church in 1938 and was a lifelong member. She became an LPN in the 1960's and worked at the Missouri State Chest Hospital on the surgical ward for many years until her retirement. Ruth was a 50-plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Miller Senior Citizens, involved with the Miller Christian Center, and was a former secretary of the Sycamore Cemetery Association. She was a caregiver for many friends in the community and several family members in her own home. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepparents; and beloved husband; as well as a sister, Colleen Wolf; daughter, Barbara Garton; and great grandson, Tyler Bartelsmeyer. She has many survivors who love and miss her including two daughters, Wilma Snyder and her husband, Avon, of Miller, Missouri, and Pat Hood and her husband, Jerry, of Mt. Vernon; son-in-law, Gary Garton of Holt, Missouri; and nephew, Kenny Wolf and Carol of St. Louis. Grandchildren are Gary Wade and Cathy Garton, Rodger and Dana Garton, Jeff and Betty Garton, Susan Garton, David and Keri Snyder, Mary and Dr. Scott Duff, Missy and Mark Short, and Pam and David Bartelsmeyer. Great grandchildren are Josh, Sarah, Kayla, Adam, Ashlyn, Tracy, J.D., Amanda, Jack, Jason, Hannah, Will, Amelia Ruth, Corey, Clark, Colin, and Carter. Great-great grandchildren are Xander and Mason, as well as baby boy due in December. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home in Miller, Missouri with burial in the Sycamore Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Miller United Methodist Church or the Sycamore Cemetery Association, in care of the funeral home.
