Thelma Grace Scout

On Tuesday, January 15th, 2013, Heaven welcomed a special angel. Thelma Grace (Eary) Scout went to live in Gods house after a courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer. Thelma was born in Carteret, NJ on March 7, 1936. She had been a resident of Springfield for 8 years and previously lived her life in NJ. Thelma was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 55 years and soul mate, Donald Mark Scout; her Parents, Clinton Theodore and Wilhelmina Eary, sister Dorine Eary Stefanowitz, in-laws Herman Hazel and Marie Elizabeth Scout and daughters Cynthia Anne and Laura Lee Scout.

Thelma is survived by her most precious gifts, her children, daughter Cynthia Byersmith (son-in-law Larry Vandevander), of Springfield, MO, daughter Catherine Lunn (son-in-law Ronald Lunn), of Haddon Heights, NJ, son Christopher Scout (daughter Debra Scout), of Flowery Branch, GA, daughter Caron Davis, of Springfield, MO. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren, Paul Byersmith III, Krysta Byersmith, Matthew Scout, Craig Byersmith, Joshua Lunn, Jessica Scout, Samantha Lunn, Madison Davis, Julia Davis, and Erica Lunn; as well as great- granddaughter, Arianna Byersmith. Thelma is also survived by her brother, Clinton Eary (wife Marion); brother-in-law Greg Bogdanffy, cousin as well as best friend, Bruce Imrie (wife Nancy), and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Thelma worked for many years in NJ, in the banking field after raising her children as well as caring for many other children of local teachers. Besides her family, art, crafts and sewing were her passion and after retiring to Springfield with her husband she spent many hours enjoying them all. In 2010 Thelma sat on a panel with women of various ages to discuss, "Women's Right to Vote" at Missouri State University.

The family is having a "Celebration of Life" on Sunday March 3, 2013 at Hillside Baptist Church in Missouri at 2 pm followed by a luncheon at Finnegan's Wake. At this time the family would like to thank Dr. Bonebrake, Kristin Heydt, and Dr. Detten, and all their staff as well as the staff at Preferred Hospice for all their love and care.
