William D. Decker went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Sonshine Manor, Republic, Missouri, at the age of 91 years. He was born on June 2, 1922 in Springfield, Missouri to Lucien and Della (Drane) Decker. Bill was a member of First Christian Church in Republic, the Elks Lodge 409, and the American Legion.

Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the 66th Medical Unit as a Clergy Assistant in the Atlantic theatre. He is retired from the Education Department of the US Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.

Bill had a Masters of Music and Education from Missouri Teachers College and University of Missouri. He was a classical pianist who shared his love of music with many students.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy; his son, David; and his parents. He is survived by his daughter Deborah and her husband David, Republic; his sister, Virginia Bisher, Springfield; three grandsons, Dustin Decker, New Orleans, LA, Chris Stocker and wife, Kayla, Springfield, and Michael Stocker and wife Ashley, Springfield; daughter in law, Marsha Decker, Republic; and the first great grandson, Sam, was born October 22nd, this year. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 28, 2013 with funeral services following at First Christian Church, Republic, under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Republic

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Christian Ministry of Music or the Veterans Memorial Team.
