Gladys May (Clark) Comstock was born May 2, 1915, Swan, Mo. (Taney County) and departed this life on May 20, 2011 in Webco Manor, Marshfield, Mo. at 96+ years of age. She was the daughter of Lonnie Burton and Zana Ann (Anna) (Wood) Clark. On November 22, 1940 she was united in marriage to Thomas Edward Comstock.
She was a 77 year-plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star joining Hayworth Chapter #32, Forsyth, Missouri on December 21, 1933. She helped organize the Strafford Chapter #471 in 1950 and continued her membership when the Strafford Chapter consolidated with Webster Chapter #439 Marshfield in 2009. She was District Deputy Grand Matron of the 45th District in 1975.
Gladys was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lonnie and Anna Clark; her husband of 47+ years, Thomas Edward Comstock; along with one grandson, Robert Edward Dawson.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna Maude and her husband, Robert Edwin Dawson; her son, Thomas Clark Comstock and his wife Rebecca Ann; four grandchildren, Thomas Wayne and his wife Alicia Comstock, Teri Ann (Comstock) and her husband Phillip Edwards, Matthew Burton Dawson, and Sarah Elizabeth Dawson; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan Wayne Edwards, Devon Thomas Edwards, and Thomas Wyatt Comstock, all of Strafford, Mo.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2011 in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home, 1635 N. Benton, Springfield, MO with visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. followed with the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. including an Eastern Star Funeral Ceremony by Webster Chapter #439 OES, Marshfield, Mo. Interment will follow in Danforth Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Webster Chapter #439, OES for the Eastern Star ceremony and to Mother's dear caregivers at Webco Manor.
