Wallace Neil VanStavern

Wallace Neil VanStavern, age seventy-one, of Springfield, Missouri formerly of Lebanon, Missouri passed away on February 17, 2014, in Springfield.

Neil was born June 29, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri to Wallace O. and Esther R. Rollins VanStavern.

He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1960. After high school, he joined the United States Navy, until his honorable discharge in 1962. He worked for several years at Detroit Tool in Lebanon, as a technician. When Neil moved to Springfield, Missouri, he began working for General Electric, where he retired in 2002.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bobby VanStavern; and one sister, Margaret R. Knauss.

He leaves to celebrate his memory, one sister, Mary Randolph and her husband Lucky of Fort Worth, TX; his ex-wife and close friend, Linda Erwin of Nixa, MO; three sons, Lt. Commander Monte Fletcher and his wife Tina stationed in Germany, Brent Fletcher and his wife Amy of Ozark, MO, and Bryant Fletcher and his girlfriend, Lorna of Battlefield, MO; four grandchildren, Quinn, Griffin, Elana and Caleb; brother-in-law, Daniel O. Knauss of Falcon, MO; Linda's sister Wayneth Jackson and her husband Bob of the state of Florida; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at Lifepoint Church (51 Riverdale Rd. Ozark, MO 65721.) There will be a visitation to follow the service, also at the church. Memorials have been suggested to Springfield Humane Society and donations can be left at or mailed to Shadel's Colonial Chapel (P.O. Box 948 Lebanon, MO 65536)
