Mary Frances Jones

Mary Frances Jones, 91, Nixa, passed away at Friday, February 21, 2014 in Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark.

She was born February 26, 1922, Ozark, Missouri, the daughter of the late Mahlon and Ethel (Comstock) Stine. She was united in marriage on June 15, 1940 in Galena, Missouri to Walter E. "W.E." Jones, following 67 years of marriage, he preceded her death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joe R. Rice; a brother, Stephen Stine; and a sister, Virginia Hannah.

Mary Frances was a co-owner with her husband Walt of Allied Bus Sales in Nixa and also a co-owner of the Harrison Bottling Company in Harrison, Arkansas in the early 1960's. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Nixa where she served as treasurer for many years and was a past president of the Nixa PTA. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and was a past-president of the Nixa Garden Club. She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed quilting and knitting and had, in her earlier years, knitted socks for the soldiers during WWII. She was a 50 plus year member and past worthy matron of Ozark Chapter No. 98, O.E.S. in Ozark. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Rice, Springfield; two grandsons, Richard Rice, Naples, FL; and Craig Rice, Springfield; two great-granddaughters, Jasmine Rice and Bethany Rice; a brother-in-law, Frank Hannah, and a nephew, Jim Hannah and his wife Pat, all of Searcy, AR; a niece, Sara Beth Bowen and her husband Early, Cypress, TX; and many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses for their care and kindness during Mary Frances' stay at Ozark Riverview Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville. Burial will follow in Jones-Chastain Cemetery south of Nixa.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., before the service, in the funeral home.
