Shirley Louise Floyd

Shirley Louise (McClaskey) Floyd was born on June 24, 1941, in Green City, Missouri, to Leo McClaskey and Josephine DeWitt Scotten. She passed away on February 22, 2014, in Springfield, Missouri.

Shirley was united in marriage to Eldon Dean "Nick" Lathrop in 1959 in Nevada, Missouri. To this union, two sons were born: Jack Lathrop (Sarah), Nevada, Missouri, and Darrell Lathrop, Malta Bend, Missouri. Shirley married William "Bill" Floyd on November 20, 1985. She was a loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her sons and their families; sisters: Debbie Metcalf and Donna Sheets; and brothers: Laverne Scotten and C. D. Scotten, all of Nevada, Missouri. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Nick Lathrop; and her second husband, Bill Floyd.

Shirley graduated from Walker High School in Walker, Missouri. She worked as an administrative assistant in the cosmetology industry. Shirley enjoyed her family, friends, gardening, playing cards, and her dogs, Beau and Zack - not necessarily in that order.

A private memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at the Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Springfield, Missouri. Shirley's final resting place will be at Brookline Cemetery, Greene County, Missouri.
