Jerry Donald Coday

Jerry Donald Coday, age 73, of Springfield, passed away in his home with the comfort of his loved ones. He was born July 28, 1940 in Hartville, Mo. to Lowell and Helen Coday.

He married his love Helen M. Travis on June 1, 1962. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy then later the Army Reserves. He spent 28 years 7 months 16 days and 4 hours with the Springfield Police Department, 14 of which were as an Arson Investigator with the Fire Department. He dubbed himself laughingly "Worlds greatest crime fighter" to his family and friends. He was a member of the Greene Hills Country Club where he enjoyed spending his time after retirement.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Junior; and sister, Jeanette along with his son-in-law Troy Goins.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters: Kimberly and Kelly; three granddaughters: Tiffany, Cortnie, and Whitney, their spouses James and Rusty; great-grand-daughter, his little buddy, Skilynn; brother, Jimmy; nephew, Shawn; and many other nieces and nephews along with George Brinkman and other life long friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Funeral services are Thursday, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenlawn North with graveside to follow in Sparta IOOF cemetary.
