Katheryn "Kay" Lee Crockett

Katheryn "Kay" Lee Crockett passed from this life February 27, 2014. Kay was born in northern Greene County, Mo., on March 17, 1923. A long- time resident of Springfield, Kay lived these last four years at Ozark Methodist Manor in Marionville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Donna Johnson, her brother, two sisters, and her husband Bob. She is survived by four children, David Crockett, Barbara James, Elisabeth (Beth) Stevens, Diane Tharp, their spouses, nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 step-great-grandchildren.

Kay was raised on a farm near Robberson Prairie and graduated from Pleasant Hope High School. Married to Robert (Bob) Crockett on August 3, 1941, became a mother and homemaker, and partnered with Bob to establish Crockett Tax Service of Springfield. She was very active at First Baptist Church, teaching and ministering to children and young adults. Kay found time to serve as a volunteer and officer with the PTA as well as the area chapter of the Missouri Society of Accountants.

Her home life centered, around her family, gardening, music, sewing, and other crafts. She shared with her husband a great love for travel. Kay is remembered for her graciousness, her generosity, her sense of humor, and her devotion to her family and her Lord.

Services for Katheryn will be Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial to follow in Pleasant Hope Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:15 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. just prior to services.
