Boyd H. Huddleston

Boyd H. Huddleston, 80, passed March 13, 2014 at his home in Springfield, MO.

Boyd was born in St. Louis, MO January 23, 1934, the son of John R. Hatcher and Alma Jane Butler. He was raised by his aunt, Hilda Hendryx and moved to Springfield when he was 16 years old. He graduated from Senior High School and attended SMS. He married Jane Moreland at Northwest Baptist Church, Springfield, August 30, 1953, and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

He was employed by Meadow Gold Ice Cream for 5 years. He worked for Kraft / General Foods - Maxwell House Division for 32 years and retired in October, 1992. He enjoyed gospel music and in the 50s and 60s, sang in the Gateway Quartet and other gospel quartets. He was a charter member of Orchard Crest Baptist Church and a member of Second Baptist Church for 37 years where he initiated their security program. He was currently an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He served as a reserve detective for the Greene County Sheriff's office for 25 years and was also a member of the Crimestopper's Board. During retirement, Boyd and Jane enjoyed camping and were members of the Queen City Sams and On the Lam Sams camping groups and served on the State staff of the Missouri Good Sam Club International.

Along with his wife, Jane of Springfield, he is survived by two stepsisters: Pamela Gutierrez (Chon), San Antonio, TX and Hilda Myers (Curtis), Rockport, TX; four sons: Stuart Huddleston (Barbara), Jefferson City, MO; Mark Huddleston, Camdenton, MO; Phillip Huddleston (partner Stephanie), Springfield, MO; and Paul Huddleston (Kelly), Mission Viejo, CA; four grandchildren: Brian Huddleston, Jefferson City, MO; Kelsey Huddleston (fiancé Tyler), Springfield, MO; Brittany Huddleston, Springfield, MO; and Zoe Huddleston, Mission Viejo, CA; numerous church friends and business associates.

Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2014, with funeral to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the following organizations: American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or Ridgecrest Baptist Church Missions, 2210 W. Republic Rd., Springfield, MO 65807.
