Pauline K. Wilson

Pauline Kitchen Wilson passed away on March 31, 2014 at Golden Living Centers, Hendersonville, NC. She was born May 22, 1923 in Leasburg, Mo to Sam and Elfleda Kitchen. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin in 2002 after 59 years of marriage and brother Clark Kitchen, Colorado Springs, CO. Pauline is survived by her four children and their spouses; Dr. Alvin & Ruth Wilson of Calhoun, GA, Karen and Gary Stokes of Golden, CO, Jim Bob and Nancy Wilson of Flat Rock, NC and George (Bo) and Terri Strickland of Bradenton, FL. She was blessed with 3 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, 10 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters. Pauline was full of smiles, at the expected birth of another great-grandchild in July. As far as Pauline was concerned, there were never too many children. Pauline was the center of the Wilson family and took great delight in planning trips for her and Alvin to visit their children. In later years, she especially enjoyed hearing about the various activities of her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pauline also leaves behind the spouses of her grandchildren, extended family, and special friends.

After Pauline graduated from Cuba High School and teacher's college, she taught in one-room schools in Crawford County, MO. After marrying Alvin Wilson on April 3, 1943, she moved to Springfield. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Springfield, MO. Pauline loved anything that had to do with her children. She was an active mother in PTA, scouting, and little league. She loved football and baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Missouri Tigers. She was employed in several retail positions in Springfield and retired from Zenith. After Pauline and Alvin retired they completed visits to all 50 states and abroad. She enjoyed square dancing, reading and gardening. Pauline and Alvin moved to Hendersonville, NC in 2002 to be closer to their children.

Funeral services are planned for Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Greenlawn North Chapel, 3506 North National, and Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
