Eugene Glen Haworth, age 93, of Nixa, died April 16, 2014. He was born October 7, 1920 to Bert Haworth and Mearl Blevins Haworth. He married Estelle M. Chastain on June 6, 1942.
Eugene was an avid hunter, especially of groundhogs. He was a semi-pro baseball player for several teams in the Ozarks. Eugene operated an excavating company. He installed water systems in Nixa, Ozark and several other cities in Missouri and Arkansas. Eugene served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a 60+ year member of the American Legion.
Eugene is survived by Vicki Boatman and husband Chuck and Penni Gill of Nixa; two grandsons, Marcus Andrew Cox and Eugene Howard Cox and wife Jessica; four great grandchildren, Chloe and Mia Cox, and Analise and Aaric Cox all of Oklahoma; three step grandsons; four step great grandchildren; four brothers, Howard Leon (Jack), Bill, Bob and Gearl all of Nixa.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Estelle; a sister Eunice Faye (Peggy), and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 with Rev. Al Boatman officiating also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Selmore Cemetery in Ozark with full military honors.
