Hildegard E. Blaski

Hildegard E. Blaski, age 80 of Springfield, passed away, Friday, May 2, 2014 in Mercy Hospital.

Hildegard was a homemaker. She didn't work outside the home until the boys were in high school and then only for short periods.

She had a passion for dancing and traveling. She danced in almost all of the fifty countries we visited around the world. She once said that she had no pleasant memories of her childhood, having grown up in war torn Germany, and the last five years when she lost her legs and suffered a lot, but she said if you only think of all the years in between, I can truly say "I had a wonderful life."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Franze and Gertrud Knorz Schulz; sister, Helene Sattler; and brothers, Valdemar, Richard and Garhart Schulz.

Hildegard is survived by her husband Vernon Blaski, Springfield; two sons Steven, Springfield and Gary and wife Jeanie Richie Blaski, Richland, WA.

Funeral mass will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2014 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 7 PM in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 7 PM. Burial will be held at noon Friday in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
