Emma Jewell Wilkerson Pollard peacefully passed from this earthly life into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2014. She was born in Lawrenceburg, MO. on April 1, 1922 to Don and Myrtle Faye (Samuel) Wilkerson. She attended school in Humansville, MO. and Hall Town, MO. where she met and married her husband, Donald M. Pollard. After the birth of their daughter and travelling with the military during WW II, they settled forever in Springfield. They were very active members of the First Church of the Nazarene. Emma was born with the heart of a servant. her greatest joy in life came from helping others. She loved spending time with her family--especially her sisters and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one beloved sister, Joan Pittman-Hill and two brothers-in-law, Cecil Pittman and Orval Pyeatt. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Noma and Kerry Montgomery; her beloved sister, Noma June Pyeatt; two grandsons, Scott Montgomery and family-Amanda, Luke, Walker, and Tara, and Grant Montgomery and family-Jennifer, Will and Andrew. She leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and special caregivers, LeIla, Shirley and Patti and a very special neighbor, Kathy Downs. Her passing leaves a hole in all of our hearts. We will miss her smiling face. Our love and gratitude goes out to the many loving caregivers at the Manor at Elfindale who made Emma's final days as comfortable and pleasant as they could possibly be.
