Emmitt "Buck" Johnson

Emmitt "Buck" Johnson, age 75, of Springfield, MO passed away at 7:20 pm, May 8, 2014 in peace surrounded by his loving family, close friends, and beloved pets Annie and Edgar.

He was a member of Retreads, a retiree biker group, Springfield Community Church, Retired US Navy, Phi Theta Kappa, and the International Society of Poets.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Mae Pizzarellie (Baker); grandmother, Nellie Mae Baker (Lawmaster); father, William Ernest Johnson; and grandfather, Edward Baker.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jane Johnson (Springfield); only child, Sherri Quinn (Springfield); only grandchild, Ivy Quinn (Springfield), son in law of 31 years, Dan Quinn (Springfield); and sister, Brenda Johnson Jones (Kentucky).

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 16, at the Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with the Reverend Jeremy Henderson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1 pm. A visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, 3161 W Norton Rd, Springfield, MO, 65803.
