Anna "Pearl" (Lomas) Fender
The Guest Book is expired.
Anna "Pearl" (Lomas)Fender, 82, went home on June 8, 2014. She was born June 21, 1931, in Eudora, MO, to John Alexander Lomas and Lillian Bell (Box) Lomas.
Pearl grew up on the family farm next to the Hayter family, whom she loved dearly. She attended Marion C. Early School where she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Galen Athel Fender. They married on August 28, 1950; they survived the separation of Korea, after which they had a daughter, Gail Ann.
Pearl worked for Heer's Department Store, and then in 1974, she went to work for Evangel. In 1996, Evangel presented her with the Distinguished Service Award for her service as an exceptional employee who served without recognition, day after day, with loyalty and faithfulness. She also received a 20 year employee pin, and officially retired after 23 years of service. She prayed for, worried over, and loved the students she worked with. She made dear and magnificent friends at Evangel.
Pearl taught Sunday school for many years. She attended First Baptist Church in Battlefield, Missouri, living to honor her Lord. She never met a stranger and knew people by name and made them personal friends.
Pearl loved the color RED, jewelry, purses, adventure and laughter. She could whistle loud, play volleyball, and turn cartwheels. Her grandson Benjamin was the joy of her heart. She attended his every game, concert, and program; always a part of his life.
Going home before her: The Love of her life for over 53 years of marriage, Galen Fender; her parents; and one brother, Leon Lomas.
Pearl is leaving behind: One daughter and her husband, Gail and Dennis Ritter; her grandson and his wife, Benjamin and Kayla Ritter; one sister, Velma Harrell; one brother and his wife, John and Helen Lomas; her dog, Tiny; her special Richard, Chris, and Angie; and many wonderful nephews, nieces, two sister-n-laws, and loving friends.
Dementia robbed her memories, but not ours.
Thank you Nixa Christian Health Care and Regional Hospice for watching over her so tenderly.
