Thelma V. Pickett

Thelma V. Pickett, 90, Rogersville, formerly of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, July 26, 2014 in James River Care Center, Springfield.

She was born May 24, 1924 in Newport, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Jefferson D. and Savilla (England) Wagster. She was also preceded in death by her husband Sam Pickett; two brothers, Norman and Billy Joe Wagster and a sister, Emogene Carr.

Thelma was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Newport. She enjoyed quilting and playing Canasta with her friends Barbara, Lou and Dorothy. During her last few years she lived with her daughter Debbie before moving to James River Care Center. Our heart goes out to all the wonderful people there who took care of her.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Patti Page Wells and husband Rick, Austin, TX; and Debbie Page McFate and husband Don; and a grandson, Grant C. Harris, all of Rogersville; a loving and caring sister, Wanda Anthony and husband Carl, Sherwood, AR; a brother, E.J. Wagster and wife Pat, Summerton, SC; a special niece who brought her much joy, Donna Lewis and husband Bill, Newport, AR; many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in Holland Cemetery, Rogersville under the care of J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home. No visitation is planned.
