Rama Jean Hartsell

Rama Jean Hartsell, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 16, 2014. Rama was born in Springfield, MO on February 22, 1938. She married the love of her life, Robert Lee Hartsell on March 4, 1956. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karmen Rae Hartsell, her grandson, Daniel Nathan Goddard, her parents, Ray and Lavena Sprinkle, and her sister, Dana Sprinkle.

Rama is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Earl Routh, Kelly and Randy Thrower; 5 grandchildren, Don (Amber) Goddard, Bob (Crystal) Goddard, Stacee (Jeremy) Lees, Bruce (Erin) Miller, and Dustin (Denise) Thrower; 11 great-grandchildren, Hailey Goddard, Kyle Goddard, Cody Hackett, Kayla Goddard, Kaylee Hackett, Austyn Goddard, Blake Miller, Daniel Thrower, Chase Miller, Dallas Thrower, and Delaney Thrower; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Olivia Goddard; 2 sisters, Sue Carroll and Becky Friend; sister-in-law, Sue Greer; and brother-in Law, Jim (Linda) Hartsell; nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.

Anyone that knew Rama knew of her love for music, particularly the playing of the piano and organ in her church for many years. This was her ministry to the Lord and so many were able to enjoy her beautiful playing. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and her prayers were always that all her family would come to know the Lord and be in service to Him in any way He desired. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church for many years and was now a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.

Rama loved sports and her two teams were her beloved St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys. The only other activity she loved more was spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren perform, whether it be at church, in sports, band, singing or any activity they loved.

Rama was devoted to her husband and family but did love working outside the home in retail sales. She worked for many years at Farris Clothing Stores in Springfield. She enjoyed helping her many faithful regulars that became her friends throughout the years.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Greenlawn East Funeral Home. The service will be held at Greenlawn East on Wednesday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m. followed by graveside at White Chapel Cemetery.
