Sonja Stevens, 50, Springfield, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 in Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. She was born March 4, 1964 in Bakersfield, California the daughter of the late Virgil Ray and Shirley Cagle.
She attended Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, CA, and attended cosmetology school. Sonja moved to Springfield in the late 80's and went to work as a legal assistant in 1997 at Stevens Law Firm. Prior to that she was a stylist at Regis Salon. She loved boating, floating, fishing and gardening. She was also an avid reader and seamstress.
She is survived by her husband, Richard H. "Rich" Stevens; sons, Ian and Logan Featherston; daughter, Lilly Victoria Stevens; step-daughter, Rachel Allyn (Stevens) Long and husband Nathan; step-son, John "Tyler" Stevens; five siblings, Fred, John, James, Debby and Candi.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Hazelwood Cemetery, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No formal visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sonja Stevens Medical Expense Fund, c/o Marlo White, 1736 East Sunshine, Suite 419, Springfield, MO 65804.
