Robert Dorman Nash, 77, of Springfield passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 in Cox South Hospital. He was born in Springfield on August 29, 1933, the son of Robert H. and Mable Nash.
Dorman was a 1951 graduate of Senior High School. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, served his country through the R.O.T.C. and was a captain in the U. S. Army Reserves. After graduation he worked for City Utilities as a draftsman and then for Royal Typewriter as a layout engineer. He went on to become the branch manager for Chemtech Industries before opening Chem Supply Company in Springfield, Missouri. He remained the owner and manager of Chem Supply until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Windle Nash and his wife Edna; two sisters, Vivian Ditrick and husband James and Laverne Baker and husband J.A.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Lavanna Nash; three sisters-in-law, Doris Meekins, Jeanne Pekarek, Bernice Stone and husband Donald; and three brothers-in-law, Emmett Pekarek and wife Frances, Herman Pekarek and wife Pat and John Pekarek and wife Gladys and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. The Reverend McLoughlin will be officiating. Burial will follow in Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
