Steven Lee Williams Obituary
Steven Lee Williams

Steven Lee Williams, born June 3rd, 1976, in Bentonville, AR, gave his spirit to the Lord on March 1st, 2012, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. His death resulted from unknown complications following a severe brain injury that occurred in a motorcycle crash on June 9th, 2010. He attended Kickapoo High School, where he wrestled all four years, going to State competition in his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. After high school, Steven and a friend flew to Alaska with their bikes; and then rode their bikes from Alaska to Washington state. He returned to Springfield to attend SMSU for one and one-half years before serving four years in the United States Navy; attaining a rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class in three years. After serving his Country, he hiked 800 miles of the Appalachian Trail; then returned again to Springfield to take over his brother, Gene's, automotive equipment business. While working his business, he got involved in becoming an amateur kick-boxer. His severe motorcycle crash in 2010, ended his self-employment and he begun a long road to recovery. Throughout his recovery, his personal and spiritual relationship with Jesus was greatly revived. Though quick to anger and holding tight to grudges before the wreck, Steven let his compassionate side grow and learned to release his anger (with a GREAT smile) in favor of forgiveness and hope in a brighter future. Even in his last days, he expressed his desire to return to the Appalachian Trail, purchase a "real" Hummer and a new Ducati motorcycle. Though frustrated at times with his still broken body, his want for a complete recovery and zeal to reach new goals was steadfast. We love him and will miss him very much, but look forward to seeing him again on Heaven's streets of gold--walking side by side with Jesus!

Steven was preceded in death by his sister, Heather Jean; paternal grandparents, Perry & Zelpha Williams; maternal grandparents, Santiago & Alma Montemayor.

He is survived by his beloved 8-year old son, Mikale; parents, Gene & Maria; brother, Gene Perry & wife, Patricia, & cousins, Perry & Emilia; sister, Brandy; brother, Max; sister, Angelica; and numerous other relatives.

Steven and his parents were members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 in Wesley United Methodist Church, 922 W. Republic, under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
