Genevieve B. Brizendine, age 77, Ozark, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in the Baptist Home, Ozark.
She served as a missionary for thirty years in Africa and Guam. Genevieve had also enjoyed her role as an elementary teacher and was an accomplished pianist.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and First Baptist Church of Springfield.
Genevieve is survived by her husband, J. Wesley Brizendine; one son, Todd Brizendine and wife Jennifer, Springfield; one granddaughter, Ana Joy Brizendine, Springfield; one sister, Betty Jean Fiedler and husband Earl, Sedalia, MO; three sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Billings, Clinton, MO, Alvin and Kathy Vanderhoof, Boonville, MO, and Lloyd and Bonnie Seifert, Fort Scott, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Genevieve also has many cousins from the Anderson family that traced their lineage to 1636 when the Merchant Good Hope arrived in America.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Everett Billings; five brothers-in-law, Clifford, Glen Norman and Wayne Brizendine, Willard McCoy and Sam Harvey; two sisters-in-law, Marcy McCoy and Veda Brizendine; and one nephew, Timothy Fiedler.
Funeral services for Genevieve B. Brizendine will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield. Interment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Springfield. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service in the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Baptist Home, Ozark or First Baptist Church Foundation, Springfield.
