Chester W. Harris, 87, went home to be with the Lord at 3:25 p.m., Thursday afternoon after a valiant fight with multiple cancers.
He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 37 years of service as a cable splicer and cable repairman. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 51 years Almeda Faye Sisco, his mother Leota Faye and father William Harris and brother Kenneth Harris.
He is survived by his daughter, Karen and husband Ken Bogart of Bakersville, NC; sons, Larry Harris and wife Susan of Springfied, MO, Tim Harris of Springfield, MO and Bruce Harris and wife Gail of Kansas City, MO; 9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great- great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his loving companion Elizabeth Swinney.
Visitation will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Sunday, Nov. 11th at 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service is Monday, Nov. 12th at 3 p.m. with graveside to follow in Eastlawn Cemetary.
Chet was a veteran who served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church andwas known for his great love of children and pets. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
