Sister Patricia Williams, S.L., died peacefully in the Sisters of Loretto Motherhouse in Nerinix, Kentucky on November 6, 2012. Patricia Ann Williams was born June 1, 1939 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Berneice and Tom Williams. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She attended St. Agnes Grade School and High School. She entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Loretto after high school in 1957. After graduating from Webster College, St. Louis, Missouri, she taught in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Santa Clara, California, and El Paso, Texas. During Pat's thirty years in El Paso, she taught for six years in the elementary school, served for twenty years as the founder and principal of Loretto Middle School, and served as president for her final four years there. In 2000, she returned to Springfield and entered a clinical pastoral education program. She became a board-certified chaplain and member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. She served as a chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, until 2012.
Pat is survived by numerous cousins, friends, and fellow members of the Loretto Community. She remained an active member of St. Agnes Cathedral until her death.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17, in St. Agnes Cathedral.
