Robert Dale Bornert

Robert Dale Bornert went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He died unexpectedly in his home, with his wife by his side. He had just celebrated his 81st birthday seven days before his death.

He was born November 13, 1931, a great- great- grandson of French immigrants; to Arthur and Luella (Hart) Bornert. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard and his sister Doris (Bornert) Kuptchian.

Rev. Bornert had a great love for God and his country. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951 to 1955. He and his best friend, Paughnee, were joined in marriage on September 9, 1961. They met on the campus of Southwestern Assemblies of God University, then known as Southwestern Bible Institute. They traveled on the Evangelistic field for 4 years, prior to taking a pastorate at Searcy Faith Assembly of God in Searcy, Arkansas. They served the Lord there for 14 years. After coming to Springfield, they both worked at the General Council of the Assemblies of God for 20 years. His last position was as the Director of the Benevolence Department, retiring in 1999. During this time he also pastored the Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian church, in Dunnegan, Missouri. He just celebrated his 33rd year there as their pastor in October.

He leaves behind a dear wife of 51 years, Paughnee (Starks) Bornert; two children, Robert David Bornert and his wife, Lisa (Weigand) Bornert of Springfield; Robin Danelle (Bornert) Carnett and her husband John "Lindy" Carnett of O'Fallon, MO. He leaves behind four grandchildren; Alexandra Renee Bornert, John Addison Carnett, Ethan Joel Carnett, and Gavin Luke Carnett. He also leaves behind three brothers; Ray, Kenneth, and Bruce; and one sister, Carol Myers; and many nieces and nephews, close friends, and church family.

Rev. Bornert's visitation will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November, 25, 2012 and his funeral service will be in Central Assembly of God in Springfield at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012.

Donations in his memory can be made to Aged Ministers' Assistance by going to www.ama.ag.org. An acknowledgement letter will be sent to the donor and to the family with online donations. Donations can also be mailed to AMA, 1445 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802. His Cumberland Presbyterian church family may donate to the Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home by mailing donations to CPCH, PO Drawer G, Denton, TX 76202.
