Ted Rubert Winter, 82, went to be with the Lord, quietly in his sleep on Sunday, November 18, 2012. Ted left Bryan, Texas and came to Springfield, MO, three years ago, on the advice of his best friend Clifford Hunter, 91 years old. Ted left behind a wonderful church family and friends. For the last three years, Ted's daughter, Pat Roberts helped take care of him, with his other daughter Brenda Coffman coming down from Columbia MO, to support often. Ted was in journalism most of his life.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife Joanne Harrison, his father Row Winter, who was a well known poet in Fulton Mo. Teds mother Pauline (Johnson) Winter, who taught at the Deaf school in Fulton for forty years.
Ted is survived by five children, six grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and Nikki his favorite Schnauzer.
Memorial services will be 2:30, Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Missouri Veterans cemetery with full military honors. Ted was a Naval Veteran and served proudly in the Korean Conflict. Services are entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
