Dorothy Juanita Neil, 92, of Bolivar passed away at 12:40 AM on Saturday, December 8, 2012 in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren after a very brave battle with cancer.
She was a member of the Aldrich Methodist Church.
Dorothy was born September 13, 1920 in Bolivar to Benjamin and Charlotte Hester Summers. She was the youngest of 12 children.
She married Loman William Neil on December 22, 1946 and they were the parents of 4 children. They were partners in marriage as well as farming, milking and their special loves of gardening and cattle which Dorothy kept up with until this past year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, husband Loman, brothers Joe Summers and his wife Neoma and Dick Summers and his wife Lila, sisters Margaret "Maggie" Ammerman and her husband Bob, Phyllis Mashburn and her husband Earl, Eva Cox and her husband Charles, Edna Allegar and her husband Ralph, Ellen Spoon and her husband George, Ida Suddeth and her husband Willard, Tillie Nunn and her husband Roy, brother-in-law Harold Gill, sisters-in-law Midge Smay and her husband Cleo "Putter", Lois Taylor and her husband Paul, brothers-in-law Loyal Neil and James Riggins.
Dorothy is survived by sons John W. Neil and his wife Marjorie of Syracuse, Missouri and Randy Lee Neil of Bolivar; daughters Debra J. Short and her husband Roger of Bolivar and Sue A. Neil of Aldrich; grandchildren Abby Inglis and her husband Darrin of Bolivar, Rachel Bacon and her husband Bryan of Aldrich, Richard Lane and his wife Tina of Lees Summitt, Missouri; 5 great-grandchildren Dani Inglis, Lily Bacon, Nichole, Nicholas, and Madison Lane; sisters Connie Lillie and her husband Marvin and Martha Gill; sisters-in-law Lorene Neil and Lavonna Riggins; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Dorothy J. Neil will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Murray Funeral Home in Bolivar with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, December 10, 2012 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Polk County Senior Center Meals on Wheels or the CMH Hospice may given in Dorothy's memory.
