James L. Gentry
James L. Gentry, 84 of Springfield, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014.
He was born on September 3, 1929 to Alvin and Sarah Gentry in St. Louis, Missouri. Jim served in the Army in the Korean War. On April 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to Donna Phillips. Jim worked for the Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroad.
Jim was a loving husband and father. He was kind and generous, and a friend to all. He enjoyed times with family, traveling and was an avid tennis player. He will be missed by many.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; son, Dr. James L. Gentry, Jr.; and three brothers, Charles, Leonard and Robert.
He is survived by three daughters, Lynda Gentry, Susanne Hubbert and husband, Chuck; and Nancy Mueller and husband, Joe; eight grandchildren, Dr. James L. Gentry III, Sarah Gentry, Stephen, Elizabeth and Cate Hubbert, Braden, Ashton and Landon Mueller; two great-grandchildren, Brody and Leilah Gentry.
Funeral mass will be Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Reverend Lewis Hejna, Celebrant and burial to follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5-7 pm in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
