Nadine Ebrite Obituary
Nadine Ebrite

Nadine (Morrison) Ebrite, age 90, surrendered her soul to the keeping of our Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of May 13, 2014 at The Maples, Springfield, Missouri, where she resided during her final years. The daughter of William Moody (Buck) Morrison and Viola Bivins Morrison, she was born October 23, 1923 in Gainesville, Missouri, growing up there and graduating from Gainesville High School. Baptized at an early age, she was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

In 1943, she married her childhood sweetheart, Rex Ebrite, also of Ozark County, a union that flourished despite the interruptions caused by Rex's enlistment in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, Nadine devoted herself to raising her family and assisting her husband in his career as an educator. After Rex received his college degree, they returned to Gainesville where he served for several years as principal of Gainesville High School. They later moved to Springfield, where Rex completed his graduate studies and took a tenured faculty position at Southwest Missouri State, making Greene County their permanent home.

Beyond her fulfillment as a wife and mother, Nadine's greatest joy was music. She loved to sing, and nothing made her happier than the annual family music gatherings where she could listen to all her family, young and old, singing together. Her love of music became a tradition that has been passed on to her children, relatives, and friends. For many years, she was a performing member of Sweet Adelines International singing groups, including the Ozark Belles and Ozark Showcase. Her insightful sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew her.

Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother Nolan Morrison. She is survived by daughter Cindy Griot and husband Lane; son Randy Ebrite and wife Carol; grandson Eric Ebrite, wife Talitha, and great grandsons Blake Ebrite and Chase Ebrite. She is also survived by her brother Gary Morrison and wife Carol Ann of Joplin, Missouri and their children; sister-in-law Melva Fogle and her children, as well as many cousins and lifelong friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Sunday, May 18 at Greenlawn East, 3540 East Seminole in Springfield. Funeral services will be conducted there on Monday, May 19, at 11 am, followed by interment beside her husband at the National Cemetery, Seminole at National, where a brief graveside service will be conducted.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Regional Hospice for their compassionate care. Memorial contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children's Home or the .
