Michael E. Cullen

Michael E. Cullen, age 70, of Fort Myers passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015. He was born in Platteville, WI on April 2, 1945 to Edward and Mary Lucille Cullen. He graduated in 1967 from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville with a degree in Business Administration.

Michael married Lori Zaborowski in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on January 23, 1993. He retired from the federal government on July 1, 2008 after 41 years of service including time spent in the Air Force. He was an avid bridge player and loved to play golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his wife, Lori; stepson, Ted Zaborowski; granddaughter, Bryanna Zaborowski; siblings, Charles Cullen, Dennis (Margo) Cullen, Kay (Craig) Wantoch, Timothy (Barb) Cullen, Kent Cullen, Marian Verclytte and Randall (Gina) Cullen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 1:30 pm Monday, December 28, 2015 at St. John XXIII Catholic Church 13060 Palomino Ln. Fort Myers. Interment will follow in the church's memorial garden. The celebration of Michael's life will continue at Fiddlesticks Country Club immediately following the church service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael's name would be appreciated to St. John XXIII Catholic Church, the Bobby Nichols Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park (239) 334-4880.

Mike was too young to pass, and it was a terrible experience for you to see him in a coma for so long. But you are very strong, and you'll be OK. As for Mike, he's with the Lord.

Lori, Please accept our sincere sympathy for the passing of Mike. Lee and I always enjoyed him on the golf course and when he was in our back yard looking for golf balls. Lori, I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was one of my oldest friends going back 46 years, and I always treasured our friendship. Mike was one of the kindest men I have known. He was always one to help when help was needed. As an excellent bridge player, he would play with partners at all levels and never criticized his partners play, I/we know he will be missed by many.
