CARO ROACH Obituary

CARO ROACH

JANUARY 30, 2011

Caro Roach of Cape Coral, FL beloved Mother and friend to all passed on Jan. 30, 2011 with her loved ones around her. Caro was born and raised on a ranch outside Sioux, Falls, South Dakota. Caro left home during the great depression to pursue a teaching degree. She received her associates and began her career teaching children on the prairie in a one room school house. After a short career she was courted and married Fred Roach from St. Paul, Minnesota. During the 1940's with two children in tow, they traveled to the state of Washington to help serve their country, where Fred worked on the Manhattan project. They traveled east to Kentucky to continue their service. After the war Caro and Fred headed to New York, where Fred continued with his road construction career with S.J. Groves.

They traveled across the states several times, finally ending up in Cumberland, Maryland, where Caro raised tow boys John and Terry. Caro was a member of the Quilters Guild, a volunteer at Sacred Heart Hospital, the Ladies Historical Society and the women's bridge club. Fred and Caro traveled around the world, from the pyramids, Ireland, Europe and Alaska.

Tried of the cold Caro and Fred became snow birds, first at North Port, Pine Island and finally Cape Coral, FL for the last 28 years, where all of her children followed.

Caro out lived two of her children, her daughter Nancy passed away on July 10th of 2010. Her son Terry passed recently on Nov. 9th, 2010. She is survived by her oldest daughter Caro (Joan) and youngest son John, grandchildren Kathy, Kim, Lori, Julie and Devon, three great-grandchildren, Josh, Brandon and Caitlin.

Caro loved nature in all of its glory, and also politics where she would always say what was on her mind. She was the glue that held us all together and will be missed by all that knew her.

A special thanks to everyone at Hope Hospice where they were so kind and gentle with her in her last days.

A viewing will be held on February 4th from 4-7 at Fuller Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd. S., Cape Coral, FL. A memorial service will follow the next day at 1:00 PM.

Caro was a special person who touched the lives of all those that knew her. I thank her for touching my life. It has been a very long time since I have seen Caro but I will never forget her. And, I thank her for my apron and cook book. Robyn
