Catherine L. McKenzie of Fort Myers died December 24, 2012. Catherine was born in New York City on Dec. 6, 1922 and loved to tell of her happy childhood there despite the rigors of years of depression. She always maintained that those who lived through those years developed a strength that enabled them to survived many hardships. Cathy served as a WAC in World War II with honor and a devotion to country.

She spent seven years following the war in the United Nations working with the Conference Services, and was privileged to go to Paris with the General Assembly meetings in 1947. It was there she met her friend Iva Lester, who was adopted by her family and they remained sisters to 2006 when Iva passed away in Ft. Myers where they lived for 17 years. Mother, Rose McKenzie was with them till she passed away in 1995.

Cathy went on to work for the National Broadcasting Company for 13 years in early television in Rockefeller Plaza, where she had many interesting assignments including Liaison to the Armed Forces, providing programming for those serving around the world.

She retired, after many years, from Faberge, Inc. where she spent her last ten years or so as Consumer Relations representative.
