Charles H. Joyce

ANDOVER, NY - Charles H. Joyce, 84 passed away on Sunday (June 9, 2013). He was born on Dec. 11, 1928 to Vincent and Alice (Graves) Joyce. On Nov. 26, 1949, he married Lorraine (Hyland) Joyce, who survives.

Charlie grew up on the family farm in Andover, NY and began working in the Oil and Gas industry at the age of 14. In 1950, he and his brother James V. Joyce formed Joyce Pipeline Company. In 1981, with his son Charlie P. Joyce, he purchased Otis Eastern Service, Inc. located in Wellsville. At the time of his death, he served as President of Andover Oil, a company he founded after his retirement.

He was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. He was a quiet philanthropist, always willing to help those in need. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Andover and the Blessed Pope John XXIII in Fort Myers. He was a long time officer of the New York State Oil Producers Association, serving as its President since 2008.

In addition to his wife Lorraine, he is survived by sons Charles P. Joyce (Sherry Walton) and Richard (Tina Iantorno) Joyce; daughters Cheryl (Michael) Jackson and Teresa Joyce; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Mary Anne Davis; brother James V. Joyce; and life-long friends.

Friends may call at the family home, 4 East Avenue in Andover, on Wednesday from 6 - 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 -5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 24 Elm Street in Andover on Friday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Sean DiMaria as celebrant. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. Online condolences may be offered at
