Don Rae Valentine

Don Rae Valentine, 78, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away February 22, 2013.

He was born January 16, 1935 in Lansing, Michigan. He was the son of Floyd and Donna Belle Valentine. After high school, he proudly joined the United States Army in 1954 and was stationed overseas in Germany. After completion of the Army, he was hired by Bell Telephone in Lansing, Michigan. In March of 1957, he married Mary Elaine Hancock and raised three children, Diana, and twins Terri and Larry. He left Michigan for warmer weather and a new career. He went to school and obtained his real estate license, moving several times before finally settling down in Lee County in 1975. Don worked as the director of lot sales for the Lehigh Corporation. He loved Boating, Golfing, Flying, Poker and going to races with his son. He was a great storyteller and had a wonderful personality always loving a good joke. His last few years he found what truly matters most in life...the love of family, stronger together than apart.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, his family, Elaine Valentine, 3 children, Diana (David) Jones, Terri (Jeff) Taylor, and Larry (Lori) Valentine, 7 grandchildren, Mica, Jessica, Nick, Jamie, Julie, Lindsay and Chase and 4 great grandchildren, Rylyn, Jacey, Luke and Ben.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 2nd from 11-1 PM at Gendron Funeral & Cremation Services Inc.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don's loving memory may be made to Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, Cape Coral, Florida.
