GEORGE MEYERHOLZ, DVM
NOVEMBER 30, 2012
George left his earthly life surrounded by loving family and caretakers. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather and grandfather and the ultimate Florida Gators and Chicago White Sox fan. He leaves Linda (nee Cramer), his treasured wife of twenty-six years; his beloved children, Linda Treise (Don), Steve (Dede), and Larry (Molly); and stepson, Vince Botsko. He was proud of his grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Ashley Treise York (Logan), Adam and Briana Ramirez, Michael Botsko (Beth) and Brian, Brent, Brad, and Beth Botsko.
George was born in Burlington, IA to Earl and Esther (Huddle) Meyerholz and was raised thirty miles north in Wapello, IA. He served in the U.S. Navy
after graduation from Wapello High School. After his service he attended Iowa State University where he graduated with his beloved classmates in 1954. He began his veterinary career in Freeport, Il and moved on to become the extension veterinarian for the University of Illinois
in Champagne-Urbana. In 1968, he became the Extension Veterinarian and a member of the founding staff of the University of Florida
School of Veterinary Medicine. He continued in this position until 1981 when he moved to Washington, DC to serve extension veterinarians all over the country through his work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. George retired from that position in 1990 and enjoyed retirement to the max among friends and family in SW Florida. His loving spirit and quiet humor will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service is planned for a later date. The family asks that contributions be made to Hope Hospice in lieu of flowers. 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home.
