John Joseph Brown "Joe", 69, succumbed to lung cancer at home on Saturday, June 1, 2013 in Ft Myers, Florida. He was born May 20, 1944 to Robert and Harriet Brown in Akron, Ohio. Joe was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during Vietnam. He was a talented craftsman, both with woodcraft and rebuilding cars. He enjoyed everything about cars; watching and attending NASCAR races, classic car auctions, and collecting scale die cast muscle cars. He will be remembered for his generosity, unforgettable charm, and sense of humor. Through the grace of God, and strength of will, Joe survived long enough to see the birth of his granddaughter, Kassie, and hold her in his arms.
Joe's survivors include his son John (Amy) Brown, daughter Rebecca (Steven) Smelko and step son James Leverton; sisters Patricia (Donald) Hoss and Maggie Otis; grandchildren Brittany, Bonnie, Kaylee, Dawson, and Kassie; niece Laura, nephew Matthew, other relatives and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers-in-law James Kajewski "Ski" and Dr. James Lauren Otis.
