Kathryn M. "Kay" Welsh

Kathryn M. "Kay" Welsh, 90, of Fort Myers, FL died on October 24, 2013. She was born on September 19, 1923 in Detroit, MI, a child of Thomas W. and AnnaRene (Compton) Barnes.

Kay graduated from Quincy (MI) High School, then attended the University of Michigan and graduated from The Neighborhood Playhouse School Theater in New York City where she studied under Sanford Meisner. She acted in early television and danced with the famed Martha Graham. Later, Kay had a 20 year career with WOR-TV and Radio in New York City. In 1979, she and her husband, James Welsh moved to Fort Myers where she enjoyed a second career with WEVU-TV.

Kay is survived by her loving daughter, Christine Crandall (Ron Zullo) of Fort Myers, her beloved grandson, James I. Crandall (Kristen Wisehart) of Seattle, WA, brother, James (Sue) Barnes of Indianapolis, IN, nephew Geoffrey Barnes, niece, Stephanie (David) Adams and was a great aunt to Bailey Barnes, Daniel and Charles Adams and many dear and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and her brother, Thomas W. Barnes.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Doreen, Theresa, Diane, Joan, Pat and Andrea of Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, she loved you all!
