Kenneth Alison Davis, Sr., age 87 passed away peacefully February 21, 2013 at Hope Hospice at Shell Point in Ft. Myers, Florida surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife Ruth, beloved children Pam of Lakewood, Colorado and Ken (Rebecca) of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky, granddaughters Anna Jester (Chris) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Caroline Davis also of Ft. Mitchell, sister Beulah Brown (David) of Vandalia, Illinois, brothers Warren Davis of Vandalia and Phil Davis (Elizabeth) of Carbondale, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Charles Davis, brother Noble and sister Millie Hall (Raymond) all of Illinois. Ken was born October 6, 1925 and grew up on his family's farm and worked in the tourist camp and restaurant they owned and operated along Route 40 in Effingham, Illinois. He graduated from high school at the age of sixteen, went to business college for a year, then enlisted in the Army
Air Corps. He served two years in the 483rd Bombardment Group successfully completing 35 combat missions as a tail gunner on a B-17 during WWII
. Upon his honorable discharge he attended and graduated from the University of Illinois
in January of 1951. While still in college he met, fell in love with, and married Ruth Mead on June 17, 1950. He was employed by General Electric for 30 years, spending most of that time in Loveland, Ohio where he and Ruth also owned and ran a thriving RV business from 1964 to 1972. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a proud Kentucky Colonel. He regularly attended his Air Force reunions and served as the group's Chaplain for two years. He and Ruth were long time members of Loveland Presbyterian Church of Loveland, Ohio where he served as elder and trustee, and then of First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2 PM.
