Margaret (Peg) Ward Daniel, Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Clarksville, passed away on Sunday, June 29, in her Florida home.
She is predeceased by her husband, William M. Daniel, III, and brother, Hiley Ward.
She is survived by daughters -- Frances Daniel of Richmond, VA, Elizabeth Daniel of Fort Myers, FL, and Eleanor D. Cobb (Peter) of Nashville, TN; grandsons, William Daniel Cobb of Nashville, and Mat and Scott Daniel of Miami, FL; and brothers -- J. F. Ward, Contoocook, NH and Harry Ward, Richmond, VA.
Born December 5, 1924 in DuQuoin, Illinois, daughter of the late Hiley L. and Agnes Fuller Ward of Illinois. Daniel received her A.B. degree from DePauw University and M.A. from University of Tennessee (recipient of the first Master's degree awarded in the theatre department at UT). She was hired as a professor to develop the speech, radio, and theatre programs at Austin Peay State College.
In Fort Myers, Florida, Daniel was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church and a former volunteer at Hope Hospice. Member of Pi Beta Phi, women's college fraternity, she served as president of alumnae club in Fort Myers, and colonized (founded) Pi Phi chapter at UT.
A memorial service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 3825 McGregor Blvd, 33901, on Wednesday, July 23, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to New Hope Presbyterian Church.
